Could do ... if he doesn't get berries, then we know it's not a Pheasant Berry ... but then the match will continue Abelia v Weigela!

And where are these new pictures, Pal, that you were to put up today so we can debate a bit more?

Very windy here today and I couldn't get a decent one.
I'll drive down the estate and try again!

Doesn't look like any weigela I've ever seen. I think the leaves are wrong as well as the flowers..I think it does look like an abelia but I wouldn't put my life on it.

paladin 110% himalayan honeysuckle. thats exactly how mine was in its first year. my advice to you is move it as it can grow quite tall. you can thin it after flowering.

Look at the leaves in Paladin's first photo then compare with mine. His are toothed, mine are smooth. (sorry about the focus but its blowing up a storm here)

It's very windy at the moment and my Himalayan Honeysuckle won't stand still for its photo, but Ive just managed to grab these.

Up to you what you decide to call it, Paladin - a rose by any other name etc etc. End of the day - it is going to grow big and that was what you really wanted to know.

Fancy - in your first post you said
"the leaves looks the same as my himalayan honey suckle not the flowers"

Then in your second post you said "I am 90% sure the leaves look like the himalayan honey suckle because the flowers on your pics are exactly the same as the one we have in the garden . has it got berries between the flowers?"

So first you say the flowers are NOT the same then you say they ARE EXACTLY the same

Not sure which gremlins to post but perhaps we are all confused now. Leaves are certainly different

The purple tinge to the new growth looks familiar to me.
Has yours got red spider Hornbeam?
Its a very variable plant, growing in sun or shade will alter the growth, in fact Pals looks more like leycesteria to me, than yours Hornbeam. :D
