Still mild out there at the moment. It was 52F (11C) at 4 a.m. Has now dropped to 50F, wind is picking up but the forecast rain hasn't yet arrived.

Been windy here but so far absolutely nothing to be concerned about. As per usual these days the forecasters say we are in for terrible weather and "The end is nigh", yes I'll bet it's pretty interesting up in the Islands and around the north coast but apart from that it's just fairly average.
It's no wonder people get so stressed these days. You are bombarded with dome and gloom when in effect most of it is unfounded.
I'm likely to get caught out by the weather 1 day ,as I now pay b all heed to weather warnings (far too much cry wolf for my liking). After flying around locking down the double window openings in my greenhouse a couple of years ago in preparation for "serious gales" which never materialised and then had to unlock them all again,I decided to just take things as they come.
Hope everybody else is ok and no dramas around the country.

I agree with @silu, too much scaremongering with the weather these days. Perhaps the forecasters are over predicting after the boo boo from Mr Fish many years ago. I have four weather sites on the go and not one of those was predicting storm force winds, and that includes the Jet Stream map.

Gale force winds here overnight until around 2pm this afternoon. The very north of Scotland and the islands suffered quite badly with the storm but here around Inverness there was little to worry about. It's been a very grey day and the snow is now on it's way in with a sprinkling on the lawn already. It's expected to be with us all day tomorrow.

The temperature was 10C/50F just after midnight last night but had plummeted to 4C/39F this morning. From early afternoon it has been reading 2C/36F.

I spent 9 months on the Isle of Lewis, while in the rif raf, on the West side of the island at a place called Aird Uig and the weather was, as you say, silu, "interesting" with recorded winds of over 100mph.....wild but beautiful.:love30::snorky:

With a stiff breeze the temperature only reached 47f . But it has stayed dry with grey cloud covered skies until around 5pm when we had showers. At the moment the temperature has dropped to 35f with a pressure reading of 991hpa and a total rain, so far, measurement of 6.3mm. Snow is forecast for the Cheshire Gap and North Wales, the border of which is only 7 miles to the West, with high winds. But there's nothing nicer than lying in bed, snug and warm, listening to the wind and rain rattling against the windows.:snooze::love30::snorky:

The Temperature drooped quickly last night and when I got home just after 11 p.m. it was near freezing, a very bright moon, totally clear skies with lots of twinkling things up there. Sarafi tried to force his way indoors but got the usual gentle push out of the way with my boot.

A slight frost this morning, still clear skies, and I see there is a yellow weather warning for Sunday of snow. I don't like yellow snow  :loll:

Coldest morning this year by a long way. I tried to go poo picking in the field but my fingers gave out (rubber gloves are not the warmest!). Seriously cold but with it wall to wall:hotsun: so not all bad. i intend to enjoy the :hotsun: from inside and hug the wood burner:).

Well @Sheal you did want to be fairly remote:). No snow here but looks absolutely lovely where you are. Hope the heating is working?
:) Sorry @CanadianLori what I am referring to isn't quite as grim as it sounds. Poo picking is the normally used term in horsey language for removing horse droppings from their grazing areas. The removal helps to eliminate/dramatically reduce any worm burden horses might have and keep the pasture clean. We do it pretty well daily.
