No snow to speak of here last winter....but who knows what's to come. :th scifD36:

That's exactly what I've been trying to buy since the Spring @Upsydaisy with no luck. Philadelphus Minnesota 'Snowflake' - the larger of the two that share the same name. :)

Had a drop ( literally) last night but nothing more, still waiting in anticipation for the main event coming up from @Verdun s way.

Should get a good downpour for an hour later this morning :fingers crossed:

                  Hi,

It didn't snow Sheal because Bron and I had four new Michelin Cross Climate tyres fitted to our Yeti in readiness costing £600; all we had was a dusting; usually our neighbour is digging the street out with his JCB. :wallbanging:

                  Thanks Logan; it must be Blackie's brother you have; at 6 o'clock this morning when I looked out it was dry; at quarter past seven immediately my foot touched the patio Blackie was here with absolutely spot on timing;

                  Typical day._004.JPG

It's now raining and forecast thunder so we'll also have audio; I'm in for ANOTHER soaking because I've been silly in agreeing to look after our neighbours two cats at the end of the street and I'm feeding them twice daily for the next three weeks; I'd drive on but with my bad luck I'd be arrested for not having correct insurance; I doubt I would be insured for driving to feed cats; it will be excluded in small print somewhere?

I've already done the shopping in the rain and as usual during our summer it's a black hole. I dream of spending quality time in fact any time in the workshop but I get out of bed to endless problems; the last two mornings and now this morning I'm fighting off a family of badgers who are determined to set up home here; Wednesday they had dug two big holes making a right mess so I simply filled the holes back in and tidied up; yesterday morning the holes were deeper do I bedded heavy stones into the ground; this morning the badgers have dug holes between the stones so now in the rain I'll be bedding more heavy stones and trying to tidy up but first soaking first I'll feed the cats.

                  Typical day._001.JPG
Yesterday I bedded stones in the ground.

                  Typical day._003.JPG

These badgers are determined to set up home; this is what I now have to sort out; I'll bed more stones.

On top of this my computer has been throwing a wobbly and Bron has just called my attention to our steam powered telly which just died on her; we've been on Virgin cable for over 30 years and for something electric our telly needs modifying to "full wave rectification"

                  Typical day._002.JPG

Perhaps it would start up quicker if I used a starting handle? It takes forever.

Every day I get up to these silly problems ruining my concentration and my day; I started restoring a Colt mower and I wonder now I'm 71 if I'll live long enough to complete it; sorry I can't moan longer but the jobs are already stacking up for today so I'd better get off my backside and wander on to the neighbours in the rain; oh um just a typical Colin's day.

                  Kind regards, Colin.

Colin sorry about your problems that you are having. I'd love badgers in my garden but we don't in a place where there are any. Good thing that we don't get moles, some of the houses do.
Yes we've had blackies brother and maybe thunderstorms at 3pm. The only problem is we keep getting wet walking the boys.
Never happy what ever it's like.

                        Hi,

Thanks Logan; Bron and I prefer animals to most people; for years we've put peanuts out at night for the badgers making them welcome but unfortunately we don't want a family of badgers living next to our patio; they are big powerful animals and I don't know what danger they pose to us. I've added more stones in order to deter them digging so I'll be interested to see the result tomorrow morning. I've also fed the neighbours cats and I've even spent an hour in the workshop; the rain is coming down now but it's better than the rain going up; I've seen rain come down so hard it bounces. I just keep getting wet.

                        Kind regards, Colin.

One of the badgers; picture taken a couple of years ago when it triggered our security lights. We would never hurt anything.

It didn't start raining in West Cheshire until around 9am and so far we've had just over 10mm of the wet stuff. It's stopped raining, at the moment, but looking a the radar forecast there is more to come, and since my fast draining sandy soiled garden hasn't had any recordable amount of rain for the last week, I'm happy to have some more. Having said that, Jenny the Cat is not very happy and is sitting on the mat by the open Kitchen door thinking dark thoughts!!!:cat-kittyandsmiley:
The temperature today is lower by 10f from yesterday and is 60f:dunno::heehee:

We have thunderstorms predicted for the next couple of days too. Have to say the rain hasn't been as much as I had hoped ...so far!

Hotting up again by midweek to high 20's and low 30's, so a good old soaking and refilling of the butts would be gratefully accepted. :dbgrtmb:

Don't corner them, they usally run off first but if they're cornered they will fight, their bite is worse that their bark

Badgers are such delightful creatures yet are so threatened on all sides....the badger cull and the traffic on the roads take their toll. Not troubled by badgers here but often occasionally see them on the Towans.:) Yes, they are powerful and can be dangerous to humans and dogs if cornered or challenged

Back home now ....some dry periods today but wet and warm. The rain clears the air and helps make it more healthy I think.

Lots and lots of folk coming to Cornwall now.....we’re expecting bumper visitor numbers this summer :noidea:

Colocasia Black Magic arrived too.....potted on. Lovely colour and I want to encourage it to grow big and fast so lots of watering, feeding and re potting. Want it to be 6’ ASAP :)
