    We've had a faie bit of free water recently but this whole summer I haven't had to water the lawn. Got close but was saved by a couple of good storms.

    Last year and the one before I had to have the sprinkler system running twice a day. This year only needed the low flow for the raised beds. So far...:fingers crossed:

    Global warming, if it was true, would be great for Canada. More land that would support agriculture. Less heating needed to keep us from freezing throughout the winter :)

    Today was lots of cloud but the guessers are predicting good conditions for line drying laundry and then a lovely spell of free water for Wednesday. Doesn't get better than this!

      It won't feel warmer for us, it means that the earth is warming up and it will mean more extreme weather. :smile:
      Look at the north pole, it's taking longer to get the snow and it retreats faster, it's very difficult for the polar bears. :smile:

        Yesterday was a full day of sun and rain - with both parts being unpredictable. This morning it's beautifully sunny and set to be a warm one.

                  Hi,

                  Today is forecast sunny intervals and a moderate breeze; no mention though of rain? Please note the run of dry days forecast which is a joke.

                  upload_2019-8-20_8-38-23.png

                  Many thanks Victoria; I fully agree enough is enough; Bron and I have sat at the computer a number of times browsing hundreds of detached bungalows; there are bungalows for sale in Cottingham near our friends also in Ranskill, Nottinghamshire an area we are attracted to.

                  We can afford £400,000 but it's depressing what are available; we search for detached bungalows but many have an upstairs having been converted from a true bungalow where they now are neither bungalow or house being called dormer bungalows;

                  Check out this property for sale on Rightmove!

                  The one shown above is the opposite side of the valley from us and holds zero appeal to us; the rooms upstairs are a terrible shape; the outside area lacks any appeal whatsoever; yes the inside is modernized but what isn't mentioned is how rough the area now is with serious crime such as this shown below and it's now a regular occurrence not just in Almondbury but also in Huddersfield;

                  Man run over and stabbed by machete gang in Almondbury - updates

                  We are scared to move from our wonderful bungalow in case we end up a great deal worse off; fortunately we only suffer bad weather and live on the steep slope. We can't change the weather but we've now lived here 32 years and spent all the years improving both the bungalow and generous gardens; the steepness of our site means no need for a gym.

                  Crime now is so widespread and becoming worse resulting in fatalities it's becoming unsafe just to walk the streets;

                  Horrific scene as witnesses say jogger attacked and stabbed in neck

                  Man repeatedly stabbed in Dewsbury park attack

                  We've virtually rebuilt our bungalow working from the drains to the chimney pot so we know the bungalow inside out; I moan long and hard about the climate but in some respects is so much rain really bad; we don't need watering can or hose pipe unlike many forum members who would love to adopt Blackie; our gardens are beautiful with the rear garden we call our mini park.

                  Rear garden_0001.JPG

                  Looking down a section of the rear garden to the bungalow; the garden is mature attracting lots of wildlife; the wild flowers have been attacked by Blackie and Gale.

                  We live on the outskirts of Huddersfield in a most desirable area within minutes of lovely countryside; each time I drive up the hill into our private estate I feel I'm coming home so apart from the dire weather we have little to complain about so it's highly unlikely we'll ever move.

                  Kind regards, Colin.

                    Warmed up a treat and lots of sunshine. So, I'ved opened the kitchen window as I'm making damson and plum jam. I now have a gang of wasps anxious to help.

                      Lots of cloud of different shades of grey with little patches of blue here and then. There's a strong SouthWesterly breeze which makes the temperature of 65f feel cooler while the pressure reading is 1002hpa......the highest it's been for weeks.:coffee:

                        Hi,

                        I wanted to polish the car this morning but it's roof was still wet so I washed it instead; at dinnertime I popped up the village to the post office and to fuel the car; Blackie bang on time gave me a splash as a welcome but then it turned into a nice sunny but very breezy afternoon.

                        The car is now polished and I managed some weeding in the front garden; tomorrow we're in Hull visiting friends; don't let Blackie know though.

                        Kind regards, Colin.

                                This morning was a hopping morning, heavy dew and cold, the day was mostly sunny, but it was more like late september in the wind.
                                The air has a chill to it that says Autumn.
