I managed to get in a couple of hours' work in the garden early this morning whilst it felt cool. :blue thumb:

    Sprinkler on the veggies.

In the early 60's when I was working in South Africa one of the towns had its beach fenced off with a high wire fence and it had a gate at each end. There was an official at each gate that wouldn't allow you onto the beach without shoes. The beach was very good for surfing.

            Another 30c today.

It is lovely to go in certain shops as they have air-conditioning. Our local chemist, the local mini Sainsbury's and the local garage/M&S shop. I'm not sure the vast ASDA we do our main shopping in today will be the same - probably just the chiller section.

My local B&M isn't air conditioned but they have put out several huge portable units, the size of a large fridge. There is one right by the tills keeping the checkout operators comfortable.

Just imagine having to work in any type of kitchen environment in this weather.

I am fortunate with my house; it's built into to side of a hill and the downstairs rooms - which are the bedrooms - are semi underground with the only windows facing North. Upstairs still gets stupidly hot, and I've bought an air conditioner for it for this year, but so far I've been sleeping fine.

It is sunny so far. I had a few minor adjustments to make to the sprinkler system which cooled me down to appreciate that we are up to 81f 24c and the guessers say it will go up to the 90'f 30'c range. And here I sit watching the gardens have a lovely drink :)

It was 31 degrees ambient temp at midday according to the car thermometer (driving in and out of the sun) so it must be even hotter now. It’s 25 ish in my lounge, so I dread to think what it’s like upstairs.

It's currently 29.5C in my lounge, which is upstairs. The bedrooms downstairs are cooler. I embraced the siesta today; I took to my bed at 1pm and have only just emerged. Now I'm having a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

Our high was 27.5c today and it has been breezy all afternoon with bursts of sun and cloud. Just 26.8c now still clouds and sun and breezy. I have corrected my earlier post as I mistakenly put mid 30s and should have been 20s which of course is preferable.

The thermometer in the sun in the garden was reading 44.6C/112.28F this morning. Not much change from yesterday, sunny, hot with a slight breeze. Temperature currently 29C/84F in the shade.

No heatwave here, 26c with a cool breeze at times.
Full sunshine, just the air is cooler than yesterday.

We have had the Harr all day, 18 degrees and a bit of a breeze, perfect, though a tad hot for trying out my new hedge trimmer.
