I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I've attempted to grow 5/6 lots of strawberries now (from seed and 'grow your own' kits' and it's just not happening. Where am I going wrong? I've started them off one lot in an unheated greenhouse which did nothing (after 6 weeks I've finally given up with them) and the seeds I started off in windowsill propagators indoors have also refused to grow. I've been using multi purpose john innes compost and keeping them watered.

Is it just bad luck or should I cut my losses and buy pre-grown plants?

make it easy for yourself and buy plants off the net that will produce fruit this year , and it will give you a boost and make yourself proud that you grew them
the only strawberry plants from seed I have grown are the Alpine variety plus most seeds need heat to get them going.

I've been so stubborn about it, I've been determined to grow them from seed and not wanting to buy plants! haha! Suppose I shouldn't make life hard for myself though ;)

      Thanks!

I don't even have a mower anymore, I ended up employing a gardener to cut the grass!
