On the cheese , for a no brainer you can't beat a nice mature Cheddar , we buy Cathedral and its lovely. A nice crumbly Lancashire with fresh onions , or a Wensleydale (Gromit). :blue thumb:

How do we measure the length of the coastline at OS?
We used our Boundary-Line product, an open dataset, which is at 1:10,000 scale and is the scale also used by the Boundary Commission. Comparing the length of English county coastlines using Boundary-Line high-water data, Essex didn’t top the table. Cornwall has the longest coastline (even without including the Isles of Scilly).

              1. Cornwall: 1086 km
              2. Essex: 905 km
              3. Devon: 819 km

Ok ... but ... did they do it in imperial measurements? Because, the last I read, it was a toss up twix Kent and Cornwall (but that was in Imperial measurements) but, overall, Essex pipped the post.

I guess, if Cornwall is measured in metric and Kent is measured in imperial, then, naturally, Cornwall would take the lead. Essex (girls?) would still say it was the "longest"
