here is a tip for making pine cone decorations they would look nice on your balcony..

Roll a clean pine cone in white glue, and then in glitter. The glitter will adhere to the glue along the edges, giving the cone a frosty look.
Spray paint the entire cone gold or silver. Spread newspaper over the work surface to keep the mess to a minimum.
Spray paint a pine cone white. When it dries, roll it in white glue and then glitter. This cone has a snowy look.
Glue beads between the open scales. A dab of white glue or a hot glue gun will hold the beads in place.
Wrap metallic wire garland around a cone. Tuck the garland between the scales so that the stars just peek out.
Make a cloth turban by wrapping and tucking a strip of fancy cloth around the top portion of a cone. Glue beads or paper cutouts for facial features onto the visible part of the cone.
Wire several small cones together into a natural cluster. Dress the top with a sprig of holly and a red bow.
    Tips & Warnings
Attach a bit of paddle wire around the base of the cone, make a loop in one end and use a wire ornament hanger to hang the cone on the Christmas tree.
    Use your imagination!
Have an ornament-making party. Provide guests with cotton, glue, glitter, metallic garland, bits of cloth, colored paper or other craft supplies, and be amazed at what they come up with!

Here is a recipe to make salt dough xmas decorations you can mould it into any shape ..paint them any colour and decorate to suit yourself..

    1 c. salt
    4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 c. warm water
    Steps
Mix salt and flour together. Add water.
Knead dough until smooth. The dough should be very stiff. Add more flour if it's too sticky.
Roll dough out and cut out ornaments with cookie cutters, or cut out your own figures and shapes by hand.
Push a straw, pen or other thin object through ornament at top to make a hole for hanging.
Bake ornaments for 1 hour in oven at low setting.
    Allow to cool.
Decorate. You can paint ornaments with watercolors or other type of paint, or use colored markers. Be creative.
Coat ornaments when dry with a clear protective coating.
Put ornament hanger or ribbon through hole and hang.
    Tips & Warnings
Making your own ornaments adds a personal touch to Christmas. Plus, it's something the whole family can have fun doing.
Although nontoxic, the dough is extremely salty and is not suitable for eating.
Decorated ornaments may be toxic and should not be eaten.
