Yellow flowers,north of England

    Photographed a few days ago in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorks. Seems to be flowering successfuly across the town. No idea what it is ... please help!

    Mahonia japonica? Although a bit blurred, the leaves in the background look right for Mahonia.
