Yesterday evening my wife and I saw Alan Turing bio at the local theatre. It was very good. Its disgusting how we treat people. Things aren't much better now.

No plans for pallet collecting today as Mrs Scrungee had to take her father for a medical appointment and I had 14 large pallets to finish cutting up and stack before getting any more.

But on our way to look after a small commercial flock of hens whilst their owner is on holiday, a friend pulls up and tells us about a load of pallets and other wood that we can have from a house only only a few hundred metres away.

Then Mrs Scrungee returns with 35 packs of x20 firelighters bought from Tesco reduced to only 10p/pkt, even better than when I cleared out our local B&M of packs of 24 BBQ lighters @ 25p/pkt. Probably have enough to last a couple of years now.

Really upset that she also saw loads of bottles of BBQ lighter fuel also only 10p and didn't get any, as that's a really good price for something to start bonfires, but felt a bit better when she showed me that Tesco sell kindling wood @ £3/2.5Kg, so reckon we've collected £1,000's worth in the last week or so.

What I need to do now is work out what to do with all the plywood (3mm thick internal grade) we've acquired, as most of the pallets (up to 8 x 4 feet) we've been collecting are covered one side with it, and we've already got over 50 m2 of the stuff.

We have been trying to burn a lot of the wood that my FiL had hoarded over the previous 66 years and some of it was full of woodworm or had got wet because the roof is leaking:sad:

This is only some of it and we have got some people who will take some of it off our our hands for bonfire night but they don’t want it too early or the local village kids will torch it so the pile remains for the time being.

Evidently when My late FiL drove for LBC and used to deliver bricks to the housing estates etc would cadge any bits of wood going spare to use later for some non exsisting project but it just got hoarded and never used.At least the six half bags of wood ash I have collected up will be useful for either the garden or the lottie:snorky:

IMG_1360.JPG IMG_1359.JPG This morning we have been down to the hospital to see the results of my right foot X-ray and to have a chat with the consultant about what is going to be done this time.I didn't know it but now can understand why I am in so much pain is that my big toe as well as having a bunion my toe has grown new bone which they call spurs at the Arthritic site in the toe so these will have to be sorted at the same time as they get rid of the bunion. When the Consultant pressed on the spot I nearly went through the roof as it hurt so much:sad:

Have signed the consent forms and have been asked if I have any holidays coming up.Evidently the list is shorter this time but Consultant reckons the waiting time will be a couple of months and at least the surgeon won't have as much work to do on my foot this time round:fingers crossed:

The bit that is sticking up is the bone spur that is causing me all the grief:sad:

@Upsydaisy so sorry to hear you are in so much pain with your foot:grphg: Did everything go ok with the op or is it post healing pain around the scar tissue etc.? When I had chronic bone pain in my feet blood tests were done at the hospital by a Rhumatologist(sp)and it was found I had a VitaminD deficiency so had to have tablets for it.Have you been tested for that at all? My neck makes a crunching noise when I move my head round and round so I assume I have a bit of Arthritis in it.

@shiney sorry to hear that you have had to go to funerals recently. They are not the best things to attend at the best of times especially when they happen as it gets nearer to the festive season:grphg:

We are off soon to watch Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers in concert at the Stables Theatre, Milton Keynes. We are giving ourselves plenty of to time to stop for an evening meal en route.

We actually drove from Portugal to see a concert of Walter Trout at The Stables as he was singing a song in honour of our friend who died here in Portugal. Walter actually announced our presence to the audience and we had to stand up. :hate-shocked: We chatted to him later and my giant Cane Begonia here is named after him.

Sorry for you @Kandy . and @Upsydaisy . Vitamin D. issue--- make sure you take the natural one. there are two types out there, found out that the hard way. Found out I was low on Vit D level also, (this was maybe about two years ago) anyway doctor prescribes me Vit D2, 50,000 units, one weekly pill, I took it on a Thursday, come Saturday, I thought, both my hips were broke in half the pain was unbearable. I take no other pills so it was easy detection. Read up on it, D2 is man made horrid chemicals, that for some can hurt your kidneys. So I pushed water fast to flush it out. Did not take again that stupid pill. Through some further reading, and because I was low for Vit D. I started on some safe natural Cod liver Oil for a couple weeks. then purchased over the counter Vitamin D 3, pills of 1,000 mg. I take that daily, blood work last shows I am good now. Bottom line its Vitamin D 3 you need to take. of course I told my doctor my reaction, he said--- "wow" never heard about that, I said its right in the information, as a side effect, (you stupid person--thinking). Have to be your own medical advocate. I have since moved to a different doctor. there were other issues with him besides that.
