I had another frustrating time on the phone with BT over one of our accounts. Four hours in the last two weeks  We had the stupid situation of receiving the notice that our contract was up for renewal as it was a year since the last one - where I had got a good deal from them £14.50 a month plus an up front charge that equates to £17 per month for unlimited high speed internet and landline with free evening and weekend calls. The problem was that the deal I got from them was 18 months and not 12 months!

A lot of the time spent on the phone was hanging on as I tried to get through and was moved to different departments as we have some other special requirements as well. The main problem was that I still had the email that said we had the 18 month deal and they were able to find it as I gave them the date and time they sent it the previous year. As that and the current email were contradictory they had to 'escalate' it to their Data Integrity Team (the people that deal with their b...s ups!). They gave me a Ref. no. for the case.

That was two weeks ago and they hadn't contacted me since. So this time I got through to someone very senior and he said "We haven't handled this very well, have we?". So we eventually came to an agreement as their prices are going up at the end of the month. They are giving me back the 6 months of upfront money, cancelling the current contract, giving me a two year fixed contract at last year's prices (I also got them to round down the £14.50 to £14), and got them to give us 500 minutes free per month to landline and mobiles (they are no longer doing their free evenings and weekends). On my other line I already have unlimited free calls to landlines (we make about 300-400 per month) but no free mobiles.

I'm also getting free paper bills as I don't like going online to our accounts.

I'm just waiting for an email confirming all of it, that should arrive tomorrow. :fingers crossed:

We got totally ripped off by BT years ago and won't go near them now.

Sorry @shiney I still think you're being ripped off.

I agree with @Upsydaisy . My moms with Shell and she gets all her broadband/TV ( catch up/record facility etc) / free phone calls all day every day all for £24 a month on an 18 month contract that's guaranteed to roll over 3 times with no change. That'll be 4 and a half years with no change. She doesn't have to do a thing, the contact just automatically Carrys on.

Upsy, I thought your house was further away from the lane.

No one comes down our lane except for residents but it is a sweet idea. My bear called Jefferson is a bean bag and only about 6" tall so would get lost on my gate ...

I did mention, obliquely , that we get some other special requirements (sorry, no details :noidea:) and it is also linked to another landline that comes for almost nothing and with unlimited calls. :)

@Victoria , the lane runs along the east side of our property, but the pic was taken from across the small front kitchen patio. I placed our big bear there as the children will be able to see it .. my smaller bears wouldn't be visible from the lane. Hubs cut all our east boundary hedging back ( too drastically for my liking) last year to give it a new lease of life ( seems to be working:dbgrtmb:) so the children will be able to see it through the hedging.:)

We literally only have a few dog walkers normally but since this lockdown we seem to have the whole world and his family enjoying their daily walk down here. We reckon we must have well over a 100 people now..daily!!

                      Think I'll start selling creams teas....at a distance!!

I have been meandering in circles doing things willy nilly and I am sure it is so I can procrastinate doing other jobs outdoor. The sun has shown it's face but most of my back yard is in shadow and it feels chilly out there so I'll finish today's laundry before heading out there.

I printed off some patterns for face masks and have fabric in for a prewash before sewing them up. Got some fun fabrics to play with :)

This afternoon I'll bake some bread and maybe some hot cross buns. Lways like that smell in the house :)

I've got a degree in that!

I still haven't started on tidying up my dozens of box files (which I said I would do whilst distancing) and throwing away unnecessary papers etc. that have accumulated of the 48 years we have been here. I seem to be distancing myself from doing it

We're a bit confused about how often we can walk our dogs. Is it in the the hour that we have for exercise or separate? Because that's the time that we take our exercise.
A week last Sunday on the tv the government said that could break the hour up into 3.

I'd say as long as 'social distancing' is being applied you should be fine Logan.

I hope they don't have a total lock down because my furry lad NEVER EVER does his business in the garden so he's scuppered..
