    I'm going to attempt to make a pair of trousers. I printed off the pattern and glued it, copied it onto clear plastic and am ready to lay out the fabric. I have been making window treatments and soft home furnishings for many years after switching from a corporate career, but sewing clothing is fairly new to me. And the equipment is different to the industrial stuff I am used to. The coverstitch is an amazing machine :)

    If this pattern produces something that is not unflattering, I'll use it as a go to for my basic wardrobe. I've sewn stuff recently that, though the people in the pictured finished garment looked great, the stuff looks like a potato sack on me! Binned those pieces and the patterns too. Waste of time and money.

      @CanadianLori I've made a few of my clothes through the years, I use patterns that are already made so just have to cut my size out. Sometimes I like them and sometimes I don't. The last one was a top that had like a bib at the front with lace and long sleeves with lace around them. Made it and put it on it looked more like a smock. I can alter it but haven't got around to do it because at the moment I can't see very well for the close work until I get my cataracts seen to. But if it doesn't come out right you'll enjoy yourself doing it.

        Oh, I should have explained that a bit better @Logan. These are patterns that I download and print off my size. I certainly would never be advanced enough to make my own patterns from scratch. I copy them onto clear plastic so that if I need to pattern match, I can clearly see the fabric underneath when placing the pieces.

        It won't be long until you get your eyes done. The part I found a bit weird was that due to the fact I used to have very poor distant vision, my glasses or contacts were only to correct that so when I was sewing, I'd wear glasses and then be able to take them off and get close in to my work or to thread needles etc. Now I need my reading glasses for that. You are going to be absolutely AMAZED at how it changes your world. :dbgrtmb:

          @CanadianLori that's great about your patterns. Thank you about my eyes, yes I can't wait.
          When I said that the 7th of next month I have the cataract done I found out that it's just the assessment appointment but it's going to be 90 minutes.

            This morning we took barley and berry for their booster jabs. We were going up a hill to the vets in our car and there was a side road, from the side road all of a sudden a car was coming out and he wasn't going to stop, hubby had to swerve around it shook Hubby a bit but he quickly got over it.
            The boys did well, Berry had lost a bit of weight and barley was alright, they both had their jewclaws cut. It's funny if I tried to do it they wouldn't let me. I can trim the fur around their paw pads and berry is good with that.

                Gabby Petito murder in Wyoming. Don't want to jump to any conclusions - it's not for me to judge - but her boyfriend is acting very suspiciously:

                - not reporting her missing when he got home from the trip;
                - refusing to speak to investigators;
                - went for a hike and has not returned.

                The traffic police body cam footage has troubled me greatly, because you can see that something is wrong. I really wish that they not realeased this footage to the public.

                Whoever did this will be going down - and I don't mean to prison.

                  Placed the order for the new car at the end of March. It's still not here - it's been made - it's in the UK - but there's been a delay in transporting it from Southampton due to the shortage of lorry drivers.

                  I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever arrive. Good job the old car has an MOT until next year.

                      I made a reduced size printout of my vaccine docs and laminated them so that they fit in my wallet. As of today, we cannot go into a restaurant, gym, or like facilities without that and picture I.D. to go with it. Then I met a friend for breakfast and had a fun time chatting about sewing and other fun things. After, we stopped in to a "British Shop". I saw packages of Hobnobs but the temptation to buy one of those rolls of cookies was immediately extinguished by the price - the equivalent of 3 of your pounds.:yikes: Maybe next time I won't be stingy as I have been curious about their taste.

                      It is still raining so the rest of the day will be spent indoors. Searching. For some lining that I want to use for pockets and which I put in a place, "where I'll remember putting it here"... :doh:

                        T'other Half buys them for me here but I think half that price (but he can't remember). :whistle:

                          Thank you Victoria, it's part of the small wood that divides the houses and the industrial estate, there's a brook but there's no water in it which is unusual for this time of year.

                            This didn't go down very well.

                            On BBC Radio 4 this morning - a Government Minister was questioned as to whether he was going to continue with the £20 a week benefits top up. His response:

                            - it was only a temporary payment in response to Covid;
                            - we would have to raise taxes to continue to pay for it; (...and here's the kicker)
                            - there are nearly a million vacancies out there - employers are struggling to fill jobs.

                            Wot? Work? Me? Oh no sir.....

                            Also saw on the TV news that people are being threatened with being chucked out of their rented accommodation because of non payment of rent. One man said his work had dried up and he had no money to pay his rent. Why didn't he pay 80% of his rent then? That's how much he would have received on furlough. Or did the extra expense of staying at home suck up all the furlough?

                            I wonder sometimes if some people have been taking advantage.
