    Just bumped my head on the up and over garage door, didn't open it enough and I was thinking about something so I got distracted, got a lump come up but I feel fine it's just a bit sore.

      I went into town today, I had a big surprise, I met my mate Garry, who I thought had passed on..........Oh and he thought the same about me.

      I'm so happy to have seen him, like a Lottery win to me, that.

      Very quiet in Ramsgate, don't know if most of the oldies have passed away, or they are just being careful!

        A week on from the first cataract op, had the second eye sliced open this morning :biggrin: Given that I had to get up at 4.30 to douse myself in antiseptic, then a 2 hour drive to Bordeaux, they could pretty much have done it without anaesthetic :roflol: Home by mid-day :hapfeet:
        Gardening forbidden for a month, which is a bit silly....October is one of the busiest months of the year!

          @noisette47 hope that it goes well.

          I have a assessment of my cataract next week on Thursday to see what sort of op they will do.

            When I got my first cataract done they told me no bending over etc. The next morning I discovered a leak in the ensuite shower floor. Lots of bending to grind out and regrout it. I got away with it but it worried me!

            I've been storing more things from outside to get ready for the cold weather.

            And trying to update my little website. The program keeps stalling so it is going very slowly.

              Today - picked up the new car and received a delivery of dwarf munstead from Parkers.

              I was more excited about the lavender - which really tells you all you need to know about what I think about cars :biggrin:.

                If it's anything like the first one, full vision restored after a couple of days. What a difference! Good luck with your assessment.If you have the option of lens implants, go for it! :)

                  I know, I know, Lori :biggrin: I was picking quinces six hours after the first one, and (stupidly) had a bonfire three days later.....hardly recommended!:redface: Thing is....how many of us ladies have a truly helpful man around the house who insists on us putting our feet up and letting them do everything for a fortnight? There's a severe shortage round here...:roflol:

                    Thank you, I think that's what they do anyway.

                      I watched a fascinating programme on Christopher Columbus discovering the New World ... I would have enjoyed History if we learned things like this.

                          Things I have learned about new cars:

                          - on start-up there will be flashing coloured lights and beeps. This is normal - once started all will settle down;
                          - there are no fuel or temperature gauges - you have to select these on the dash display;
                          - head lights come on and go off according to outside light levels - you don't have to do anything;
                          - wipers will come on when it rains and turn off when it stops raining - you don't have to do anything;
                          - you can't start the car unless it is in neutral and the clutch is pressed;
                          - when it traffic - the car engine will shut off if you are in neutral and the clutch is released - it will turn on again when you press the clutch (luckily you can turn this 'feature' off)
                          - the radio is hidden in the dash somewhere - you use the steering column switches to control it;
                          - you can't turn off the side lights;
                          - if you haven't got a smart 'phone or mp3 player - you're stuck with the inbuilt radio - there is no cd player, no tape deck - nothing like that.
                          - it brakes if it thinks you are travelling too fast/close to the car in front;
                          - power steering makes the steering feel vague.

                          Felt like I had more control in the old 308 - but I suppose I'll get used to this new un.

                            Careless or what? Most people lose their keys:

                            Police are trying to trace the owner of a severed finger found outside a block of flats.

                              OMG @clanless I cannot imagine a vehicle used as a "day driver" that doesn't have power steering and automatic transmission! My day drivers are too old to have all of the other automatic things you are talking about but they sound cool!

                              I had to work this morning (low time of use electric rates whilst using a big boiler system) so my baking got delayed a bit. I did finally get all the rolls, baguettes, cherry tarts and bran muffins done a few minutes ago and am now all set to make lunches for the next few days.

                              And I am going out to meet some friends for an hour or so.

                              Good activities for a rainy day :)

                                A busy yummy day Lori. Are the rates that drastically different, percentwise, on weekends when you seem to have so much to do?
