These days I have been run off my feet with work and ferrying people to medical appointments, or to the garage for their vehicle, or, well, you know what I mean. And I've had to run outside in between the jaunts to try to get things cleaned up.

Today I managed to get ti 20211013_172728.jpg me to bake some rolls in the barbecue whilst raking. And I've just noticed something quite amusing.

When I was visiting England some 3 years ago, I had the pleasure of strolling through Kew. I bought some seeds when there and one package was Persian Silky Oak (Mimosa?). When I came home, I immediately tried to germinate them a couple did so I gave them to friends thinking that tnere would be at least one more for me. Nothing.

Now I know why..... while baking, what do I notice over the fence in my neighbour's yard?

Hope they keep it tidy so you can still enjoy it. Is this the good or bad neighbour's side?

That's a lovely place to walk @Upsydaisy, I love how the trees overhang the path, and nice that it's near where you live.
I don't usually look at this thread ( can't get around to it all) so I'm glad you mentioned it in another place

@Victoria it is not the hillbillies. They are on my west side. These people are behind me and they do not tend to anything. They have a large branch splintered from their apple tree which is laying across their back yard and surrounded by rotting apples. They don't pick up any of the apples so it smells like a cider mill at the back fence line. But these people are harmless. They don't do any damage and are more or less "out of sight, out of mind". :)

The sun has yet to rise so I don't know if it is cloudy or not but my plans for today include a lot more ferrying and errands. I'll be glad for this weekend when I can just stay home!

Wow, you sure do have fun neighbours all around! :hate-shocked: I like having mine at distance and fortunately not bordering me directly. Actually the farmer across the lane is good and we always shout greetings. The only other one is across the lane behind us and we don't communicate as I had issues with her many years ago but only have to see them when they are passing our gate in the car if we are outside and we just wave.

This might just be a packet of Jaffa Cakes - some may indeed think that booting him out of the service is an over reaction - it's only 90p after all. It's still stealing and lying - which for a Police Officer is unforgiveable:

A police constable who took two packets of Jaffa Cakes from a charity stall without paying full price has been sacked from West Yorkshire Police.

He also tried to "change and embellish" his story when quizzed about it, a misconduct hearing found.

Tonight was the first parents evening in 2 years. My daughter is in her final year of sixth form and has been studying English Lit and B-Tech. She is now in the final stages of applying for a course at York Uni to study a TESOL in Japanese. The four year degree includes one year studying in Japan which will give her a CELTA qualification.

My daughter can already speak fluent Thai but has been keen on other foreign languages for sometime, mainly Japanese and Korean, which she has been self teaching herself for sometime now.

Exiting times @gks ! Native English plus a second home language plus some learnt ones open so many doors, not only at teaching but practically in any area. Our finance and IT interns are all with a second language and the graduate recruitment also focuses on double degree (something plus a language) graduates.

It's scary though to see our little ones growing up so fast isn't it? Next year this time your daughter might be hanging about in York student cafes, planning her year so many million miles away from home, sneaking her way into adulthood. How frightening and lovely at the same time.

My best wishes to your daughter on her important year, enjoy the journey ahead- it'll be wonderful :)

Up in London this weekend and having a fabulous time with eldest and his girlfriend. They bought their first property earlier in the year and now we have finally got to see it . Lovely apartment with loads of potential, they have some seriously good plans for it. Youngest also drop by yesterday for a couple of hours too...so feeling very happy!

We did a circular walk ( 5.5 miles ) which was lovely this morning. Took our little fellow to veterinary vision today for his 3 monthly check up, he is blind in one eye and partially blind in the other. Looks like he is going to have the eye removed that he is blind in, we have to give him eye drops 4 times a day to help keep the pressure down behind his eye, otherwise he will be in discomfort, which we don't want.

His name is "Rolo" not sure about the breed, definitely a cross breed. He was a rescue dog, my Mrs and daughter decided to have him when her friend moved away seven years ago, so we have little background on him.
