Just got home from having lunch with a friend and a 3 hour non stop catch up.

We had a sun shade over our table but nevertheless it got quite hot!
We both had a New York Deli sandwich on Granary bread....it was as tall as a New York skyscraper!!!!!
We got a fit of the giggles as there wasn't a ladylike way to eat them! And wine of course!

      Fab time.:)

Just finished filling out the on-line form for renewing my Passport. T'other Half decided to take my pic and I downloaded it and it was accepted (well in their acceptability range ) so don't have to go to the Photographer. I have Confirmation and Receipt I paid and just have to return my old Passport which has never been used.

Hmmm, now what can I do avoiding the heat outdoors .....

Went to see my brother on Monday - he was not very pleased.

He saw the red fuel warning light illuminate on his car - so he nipped to the local garage - putting £20 worth of fuel into the tank.

The red fuel warning light was still lit - when he left the garage.

I did laugh - the look on his face was priceless.....

I watched Michael Portillo's Great Rail Journeys, two episodes, then a couple of wildlife programmes, one in Uruguay and now Namibia. May go out in a bit although it is warm at 31c, overcast and very windy/gusty so not very enticing.

Today was my grandson and his partner's Graduation (his second in fact) so we went into the city to meet the families, take lots of photographs and go for lunch. A lovely day out.

Today my other half and I built an Ikea Storage cabinet. From start to disposing of the boxes took three hours. It is a well-engineered piece of furniture and went together extremely well.

My first go with Ikea furniture but I would buy it again.

Looks great @Jocko , professional work!

I hasten to say that I'm in no way connected to IKEA (after all, it's a Swedish company... ;)) but over the years I have come to love it. The best part is that they focus on great practicality. Drawers are just the right size, shelves just the right depth, door open just right and so on.

You also get what you pay for, the budget range is indispensable when your life stage offers no cash but a need for practical, decent furniture.

Mid price range is very durable, materials are well thought out and the furniture is made to last.

Personally I love putting the furniture together, it's a grown up Lego game for me. :)

We just visited Ikea last week but as we don't need anything only bought four jars of pickled herring and a Roadkill cactus, Opuntia Rubescens Consolea.

Just the plant to menace anyone going up the stairs :heehee: And at £8, who could resist?

Hmmm..used to be a fan of Ikea, at least for anything that didn't involve too much in the way of aesthetics, but the local store in Bordeaux underwent a massive makeover a few years ago. The result? The restaurant doubled it's prices, the furniture tripled in price overnight and manoeuvring round the store for three days trying to find your way out became just a tad tedious  Don't go anymore....

At last - some positive news in the media: :yahoo:

A mum's "game-changing" recipe to make soft serve ice cream that tastes "exactly like" Mr Whippy has taken the internet by storm - and it only uses two ingredients.

Condensed milk and double cream... :blue thumb:
