YouTube mega thread

What do you experienced gardeners make of this video? Basically the guy just cuts all the leaves off his fern. Some people in the comments say that's a terrible idea, others say it works, and some say it depends which type of fern.

I've been feeling like cutting 2 of my tattered three ferns back to the ground but mine have new growth appearing... (obviously avoiding the new growth). Still unsure whether to trust my instincts and I don't know if I trust this guy either.

Don't know why people wouldn't at least look for new growth first though...
