Good amount of rain this morning. Covered the spuds up afterwards to protect from the oncoming frosts.

Bitterly cold wind today, so not much going on outside.

Kept busy in the greenhouse, pricking out salad plants & sowing more stuff, nice & warm in there.

Busy day on the plot today. Earthed up the early spuds, planted out Cos & Lollo Rosso into the cold frames, along with Celery & a second sowing of Carrots, to fill in the gaps where january's sowings didn't germinate.

Had a bit of space left in the Onion bed after planting 150 Sturon & Stutgarter sets so went out & got another 50 red salad onions.

Dug a girt Runner Bean trench, lined it with cardboard & filled it with the contents of the kitchen waste bin, mixed with crumpled up cardboard & paper.

French Marigolds have germinated, along with Italian mixed salad leaves, peas & broad beans.

Planted out Beetroot seedlings & did another sowing of Rocket.

This should worry Batztail, as we have a Strawberry Challenge going on Facebook:snork:

First leaves coming out on the Gooseberry bushes.

And the frost damaged Cardoons are coming back from the base:chicken:

          Bit more pottering about.

Got the Feltham First Peas in. The Pigeon was watching me do this so brought cuddy toy into play, don't know if it'll fool Mr Pigeon though.

Got some more Broad Beans in, after that sudden frost killed the overwintering ones off. Garlic is doing well.

A few shots in the greenhouse.

Got the blowaway inside the greenhouse now, partly for extra shelving but also using the top for Toms, Basil, Coriander & Melons.

Still a bit of stuff coming in. Land Cress is really doing well now.

            How be on Freddy?

Like Water Cress, nice peppery tang to it, plant it in August for a good winter crop, its a little slow during the frost but its going mental now. Got about 3 plants outside & 2 in the greenhouse & its enough for salad every day.

Don't know what happened there? E B girt lush alright, had mixed sucess with Water Cress over the past few years, tried growing it in a shallow pool, doesn't seem to like it. Tried growing it in soil, not doing well outside but had first picking from the greenhouse today. It seems to be doing good and then suddenly dies.

You can plant Land Cress anytime but it only comes into its own in the winter from a late summer sowing.

            Hiya Ziggy.

Not sure, but I think Water Cress needs a decent flow of water to do well.

Land Cress, is that it's common name?
