Reblochon is for tartiflette @Ladybird4. Lovely grub.

Lovely wreath @Penny_Forthem, especially the ribbon and citrus but not the robin. It's just wrong.

What lovely neighbours @Ladybird4. The idiot next door, ex gendarme so conversant with the law - kept setting fresh garden waste fires in his garden which we wouldn't mind except he did it ondays when it was hot enough to have all our windows open and the wind was blowing our way. There was no talking to him as he's a pr*t so OH compained to the mairie. After the thrid time the mayor cam and spoke to him. No fires since.

I have written my UK Xmas cards. OH will post them tomorrow. Strictly has been recorded. We're watching Whisky Galore which Possum is finding hilarious.

@lizzie27 I found the ending of Shetland a bit of a damp squib. Too contrived.

I agree with you Obelix about Shetland. I had the right family but wrong person.

Whisky Galore is always worth watching.

We have a neighbour like that who will keep lighting bonfires of green leaves/not dead wood, especially on Monday mornings, not that I do much washing that day in particular. He's in his mid to late 80's though so we forgive him and just curse under our breath. Poor fellow had broken two bones in his ankle recently so has been laid up for a few months.

If anyone lights a bonfire round here, the fire brigade comes out... but at least the washing stays clean. :noidea:

We got the bulbs planted in the drizzle. Should look pretty, come spring time!

          Happy Sunday.jpg
Good morning everyone. Last tea/coffee morning of the year today and I am looking forward to a little rest from baking. @Obelix-Vendée and @lizzie27 I couldn't agree more with you about Shetland. I thought the ending was silly but hey ho. Half the joy of watching the series are in the country shots! Tartiflette, to me, is heaven on a plate @Obelix-Vendée. Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

            Morning. It's so dark...
At least, a week today will be the turning point towards summer.
We ought to show willing and choose a tree today. It surely can't be a year since I last got the decs out?
Who mentioned tartiflette? It's all I can think about now!

              Good morning ladies & gentlemen,

A mild night has been followed by a mild, overcast morning. Lots of rain forecast, but none so far.

Very beautiful flower arrangements @AuntyRach , and a very beautiful wreath @Penny_Forthem .
I like the vixen photo your wildlife camera caught @Liriodendron .

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today.

Hmmm... I have just seen that Lidle do packs of 4 mini tartiflettes, frozen. Wonder what they're like?

Morning all. There's a stall in the Milk Market in Limerick, run by a French family, which sells tartiflette. I've never been there at the right time to try it... looks as if I should remedy that omission, judging by some comments on here!

OH has a cold, but has to conduct his community choir in a concert this afternoon. I'll be going with him for moral support, and will make sure he's dosed up with paracetamol. We have a concert with the choir we both sing in, next Thursday, with rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday. Hopefully he'll be better by Thursday, at least, and won't have shared his germs with me...

Won't be as good as home-made @Penny_Forthem and it's so easy to do. For anyone who wants to try, this recipe is simple - Next level tartiflette - tho, as there's just us three, I use half a Reblochon sliced in wedges on top before baking it to perfection.

It was a major feature in our trips to Belgian Xmas markets, especially Leuven. Start at the beignets stall near the entrance for prawn fritters and sweet chilli sauce or mayo, stroll round admiring and sometimes buying goodies then tartiflette, more srolling and ending with apple fritters on the way out. The French think beignets are donuts which is just wrong.

It is misty here today but the sun is trying to burn thru. I'm having a domestic day making hot and sour soup for lunch then sewing. OH is watching golf on TV with no ironing to do but cuddling a purry Minstrel so I'll let him off. Possum is reading in bed - my trick.

I hope your OH's cold clears up rapidly @Liriodendron. Have you tried him on hot lemon, honey and fresh ginger?

@Ladybird4 I find baking therapeutic, unless I have to multi task with other timely jobs. I especially enjoy making the French guess the "secret" ingredient when I make a chocolate cake with beetroot or Guiness or red kidney beans. If I told them before they tasted and liked it they'd never try.

                    Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

                      Afternoon all.

I’ve checked in on Dad and taken him some cooked chicken (put some in for him whilst the oven was on yesterday) so he can make a few sandwiches with that. Off to see MIL next. I have a couple of empty tubs to take back to her so with any luck she might refill with Welsh Cakes. Or mince pies.

I hope everyone is doing ok and enjoying their Sunday.

I've tried that recipe before @Obelix-Vendée. Very good. However, there's no Reblochon round here, so plan B.

                          Hello all.

It was very chilly in church this morning, the heaters are on the blink. I did a reading and the Intercession prayers. There was a very good chocolate cake with the coffee afterwards and our best friends were there so we stayed chatting for about an hour.

My knees are complaining a bit after yesterday's gardening session which evolved kneeling on a kneeler for over 2 hours.

Cedric made cheese on toast for lunch. I make it simply with Cheddar. He makes it by using part of a packet of ready made cheese fondu from the SM and he adds chives and Worcester sauce. More like Welsh Rarebit.

We headed out for our regular breakfast and a walk this morning, but the sun disappeared fairly early. There was also a rather cold wind, but we still managed to enjoy the exercise and being out in the fresh air.
Waitrose on the way home, and as I didn’t fancy OHs choice for dinner (roast potatoes and sausages) I made myself some cauliflower cheese. I found a new jar of wholegrain mustard in the cupboard, plus mixed peppercorns. With a really good cheddar and some Gouda in the mix, it was quite delicious. I had two helpings, and have enough left to accompany tomorrow’s meal.
I was planning to put the (artificial) tree up today. For the third day running, it is sitting in bits in the corner of the room. The individual branches have to be ‘fluffed’ up and attached to the trunk, and I’ve forgotten which of our tables I usually put it on. I’d better check last years photos!

Hello all. Oh my goodness but my mouth has been watering reading your posts. Cauliflower cheese is another one of my favourite meals and I have never really thought about adding a mustard to it but now - thanks to you @Ergates - that is going to be a definite the next time I make it. I am also smitten with Cedric's version of cheese on toast @Busy-Lizzie. All sound very yummy indeed.
