The use of the English language is my favourite occupation..............but the beauty of it is that it can be used in any context, spelling, or whatever and we can understand the message whether it's logic, wit, humour, sarcasm, or just plain misuse"":snorky:

It's good to be back! This thread has got the laughter lines going. :snorky:

I'd just got used to the fact that I had to switch back from decimal to imperial on the Isle of Man and now I'm back with decimal again. What am I going to do with my weighing scales, they're in imperial? And not only that......

Now I'm totally confused! :heehee: My old head doesn't do metric - and another thing why is it when we shop for something in length, manufacturers forget centimetres and metres and produce everything as millimetres?:)

I don't think I've got one @Anthony Rogers .:) I've just bought a new car that thinks it's a computer, a new landline phone that thinks it's a mobile phone, also a new mobile phone that came very close to hitting the house wall because of a loss of temper. And today with instalment of my new internet system I'm told it's not a router anymore but a hub. This old head is struggling to keep up!

Here's a little story for you.....

Mr S and I went to look at a house (just an exterior viewing of the place) a few days ago, the only instruction of it's whereabouts was road name and village. We were close but couldn't find it so stopped to ask someone where the road was. The chap said "sorry I'm not from around here have you got a map". "No we've left it at home". He then said "you've got Satnav in your car why don't you use that". My reply, "we've only just bought the car and don't know how to use it yet!" He quite rightly thought that was funny. :)

We then stopped at a shop to ask and I waited patiently while a customer bought the shop out of scratch cards while holding a friendly discussion with the shopkeeper. Eventually I got the instructions albeit sketchy, so I left with a rough idea where to head. Outside the 'scratch card' lady said "can I help you, I'm a taxi driver". We found the place and it wasn't worth the search. I'll be getting my head round the Satnav this coming weekend. Ironically, the Satnav is busy showing me where I'm going at the moment, round every single bend on every road, but comes to a halt when it nears the current lane I'm living on. Why? Because I'm living on Forestry land and if I don't follow my nose to get home Satnav will never deliver me as it's not on it's navigation system.:)

I don't need decimalisation it doesn't compute, I can always ask someone to convert for me.
