Just info. Back in the old days the water authorities used to put up gates to show the line that their underground pipes took. They were usually put in hedges around fields but sometimes just placed in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere. Sometimes the farmers had removed the hedges to make the fields bigger and easier to access.
