Please dont do what I did a few months ago.
I was moving a rather large Agave and one the long spikey leaves went right up my nose.
    Ouch... I said....
Well it bleed for ever (the nose that is) and when it finally stopped the attacker was dispatched to the green recycle bin.
I was so very glad it was not my eye.
Visit to the doctors today for a service and MOT and he spots some damage still up my nose.(It still bleeds now and again)
I now have a cream to apply and if not cured in three weeks he is going to have to quarterize it!
I am not looking forward to that !
What I am coming around to say is.
Please be aware of Agave and other sharp pointed plants, especially if you have small people at home or are visiting.
I was lucky. I could have lost an eye..
    Thanks for listerning
    Robert

Believe me when I say the news about my nose was the good news.
I now have the added blow of being told I have
    Osteoarthritis.
Been a bit of black day really...

They snip the spikes of agaves in many public gardens. I had a friend with a cactus and such nursery, she used to stick corks (from bottles) on agaves when handling them. Makes them more visible and less vicious.

I feel for you. It´s downright treason, you care for a plant you fuss and worry about it and that is the reward. :(
