Has anyone grown these before? I keep seeing them in garden centres for about £20 growing up bamboo with fab yellow flowers with black eyes in the middle. I thought I would try and grow them first before I shell out £20... so far they are about an inch or so high and sitting in the plastic greenhouse eagerly waiting to venture out into their new pots! ;)

Yes, they grow easily from seed. I did it, and grew them up my picket fence - great plants! :D

Hi, Gillypetunia. I have both the yellow and orange ones and they survive my heat here but I do have them where they don't get the sun all day.

I'm quite shocked they are selling them on canes for £20 ... I pay about a fiver here. I think you did right in trying from seed, they are a beautiful plant. There's apparently a white one with yellow eyes called Angel Wings which I've never seen.

I've now got the Thunbergia grandiflora, the purple trumpet one, much hardier than the T alatas.

Good luck and I look forward to hearing of your progress and even possibly pictures!

I've grown them from seed this year and have them on the window sills throughout the house climbing up a cane. They are quite easy to grow from seed and by the looks of things a LOT cheaper. [IMG]
