Peter, the spray that actually appears to be working up to now is Westland Plant Rescue spray.
You need the one for ornamental plants, it contains a substance called Abermectin, which is the active ingredient that kills RSM.

The fruit and veg version does not contain it.

On googling just now I've found a Westland spray for flowering plants, I've not seen this one in the shops.
Maybe its a replacement for the ornamental one, who knows, but read the label and look for Abermectin.

Only seen it in those little trigger sprays up to now, which is a pity, an expensive way of buying it.

Thanks Pete, I will look into that spray. I think I must get myself organised and do preventative spraying, rather than starting after the problem is obvious.

I love that flower. :dbgrtmb: Very pale and passionate.

Thats lovely Victoria - most attractive. Its a very pronounced colour contrast. I presume that's its first flower this year, and that last year it didn't have the dark edge.

I understand that you can get darker edges. The above is the Jungle Seeds picture of Herzenbrucke, which is one of the packets of seed I bought from them. But that's nothing like yours.

:) I like the colour of that one Peter. Also look forward to seeing yours open Pete.

Yes, I meant to say that it was it's first bloom this year as she is 4-5 years old now. She does vary in colour slightly each year, here is last and a previous year's ...

However, this 'edging' is quite unique almost like it has been painted on ... but I do like it and hope other blooms will be similar.

Actually, now that I think of it, my Hibiscus (in particular the doubles) vary in colour from year to year.

Lovely Dave - thats a lot of flower for so early in the summer.

I had a yellow one bought last year as a small cutting. It flowered well during the year, so I took it inside my hall over the winter under some low power lights. It went on flowering for some time, but the most amazing thing was the fragrance that really filled the house strongly in the evening - being an enclosed space.

If I have the heavy flowering variagated one in the greenhouse when it is flower you cannot stand the fragrance . That variagated one had alreay had one heavy flush this is it's second .

I was reading somewhere that the perfume (as well as the rest of the plant) is also halucinogenic. Apparently someone in the US was overcomes by the perfume and had to be taken to hospital. Or perhaps that was a trip that he just imagined. :loll:

I am amazed at how far forward your Brugs and also Fuchsia arborescens are Dave. It must be warmer down there in the south!
