Thanks Victoria, it doesn't exactly name the variety on the label. front or back, so I'll identify it tomorrow.....but I suspect you're correct and it is C. Citrinus. I would possibly might prefer C.Viminalis, because of your description, but I also suspect it is probably more tender.....which would make me weep if I lost it to frost:cry3: :snork:

Don't know Big A but think that C citrinus is hardier than C viminalis ... possibly Strongy or Pete will come along and tell us.

Sod's Gardening Law usually says that the more desirable and attractive the plant the more tender, vunerable and harder to grow they are:gaah::heehee:........so I hope you are right, Victoria!!!:hapydancsmil::snork:

Armandi, yours is C Rigidus/Linearis the common hardy red one so you should had no problems with it although I wouldn't plant it just yet, wait till march.
Callistmon Viminalis is a very rarely found for sale anywhere as it is not at all hardy anywhere in the UK.

Just remember that it may have been inside a warm supermarket for a while and although hardy, being a relatively young plant, it may not like the current cold snap so best not left out at night below 0c.

I planted these on Sunday, so hopefully they'll be ok this early in the ground.

They will be fine.. your variety is Callistemon subulatus (often mistaken for rigidus).

It's those Callistemon citrinus that are the tender ones! They often get mixed up with rigidus too, even those C. citrinus has much broader leaves.
