This Camelia is well established and usually has a lot of flowers. This year we have few flowers, some leaves are discoloured and the plant doesn't look happy.
    Any ideas

Hi @bill-lancaster , it looks fine to me , lots of glossy new foliage. The yellowing leaves seem lower down which means they could be last years and so it would be normal for them to drop.

As for few flowers, Camellia buds are formed in July/August and they must be kept reasonably damp during that period. I was wondering if it received enough water during last years long hot summer.

Overall, I think a good feed ( as per manufacturers instructions ) with an ericaceous type feed every other week will bring it back up to par.

Thank KFF, that's reassuring. I didn't think to water it during that long drought last year. It will now get fed as advised.
      Thanks again

        Morning bill-Lancaster :)
Those leaves look fine to me
The lack of flowers? Did your plant dry out during late summer? Camellias need extra water during July to September when the flower buds form so be aware of this during the summer.
At this time of year I apply a thick mulch to camellias and this helps conserve moisture:)

We've been at this address for three years now, the camelia is clearly mature but considering the advice received here, it must have suffered during last years drought. It was quite bad here and most of my time was taken up with watering recently planted shrubs.
          Thanks
