As I posted in my first thread, I want my daughter to help me out in the garden so I asked her and she agreed so now I'm needing advice on where to get a cheap jacket that she can use mainly just for gardening because my DH told me that it's best not to let her use her daily life one for gardening as it was expensive and is also used for school during the winter time.

Thanks Graham, anything she is likely to zip would be nice lol so that her clothes stay clean.

Matalan do cheap clothes and are good for gardening. My gardening jackets come from there. The nice warm one I used through the winter cost me £10 - on offer.

Do you really want a good brand for a gardening jacket? I've seen Regatta in Go Outdoors.

I use a Regatta fleece that can also be zipped into my old Regatta waterproof jacket as a lining and together they make ideal snug gardening workwear....on warmer days they can of course be used seperately too.

Since your daughter is young (7 you said I think), Primark and Matalan are the places to go to. She'll grow out of anything by next season so it's not worth investing much- as long as the clothes are comfortable.

Check out for comfortable plastic clogs as well, and stock up on "dirty works" items from a charity shop, the size doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't restrict movement and is comfy to wear. A charity shop flowery oversized nana-style sweatshirt might also just be the item your daughter will love to bits. You never know with the young ones ;)
