:D That's brilliant Marley. Makes our light show look a little dull.

We have looked at the price of real trees this year, they have gone up! We will get one though and I will post a pic when it's done.
The second lot of lights are now up, done without a single moan :hehe: hope to post a pic later today. I am surrounded by home made cards, glue, sequins, you name it! I have a lot to make here. I ought to have started earlier in the year :D

We got a 5 foot (ish) real tree at Homebase for £9.99. It suits our house fine as it's quite small so a huge tree would take over, but they are selling larger ones for £19.99. These are all the non-drop variety (as much as possible anyway). They're also selling the old fashioned Norway Spruce that many of us will remember from yesteryear. Those trees that loose every needle just by looking at them and at the end of Christmas, ends up as a twiggy tree, covered in tinsel!

We've bought rooted trees for the past few years but they are incredibly expensive this year (£20.00+ for a 3-4 foot tree). The intention was always to dig them up each winter, but they ended up planted in a corner of the chicken run, aka the 'Ghosts of Christmas Past!'

The way to make real trees last, is of course to delay bringing them into the house for as long as possible. Also, treat them like cut flowers, cut a bit off the end, mash the end of the trunk a bit with a hammer and put them in a bowl of water inside whatever else you use to stand them in and keep the bowl topped up.

We looked at more trees today, they were even more expensive so it will be Homebase for us.
Here are the lights, it's difficult to photo them but you can get the gist! :)

I get the idea. Must go out and take a pic of ours now, seeing as we put them up earlier.
