    Hi Tigertoe!
You could try Sadolin, free colour chart to send off for here http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/viewprod/s/SADCCE/
& a sample of some colours (+ stockists) here
    http://www.sadolin.co.uk/homeowner/products/claddingfascias/superdec/colours.htm
I stained a trellis many moons ago to match my then purple front door (It is now a "tasteful" sea green!!!) by mixing a small amount of the paint into clear matt varnish & it worked a treat, it's easier that way to get the colour you want, but not so reliable if you want to cover a large area as you have to be meticulous about the proportions. Good luck!
