What is the shortest variety of Cosmos? I grew a few types last year but even the "dwarf" variety that I tried managed to grow about 4 feet tall. I'm looking for something about 12 to 18 inches maximum.

Also, is there a blue variety? I'm looking for one that is as blue as a clear midsummer sky. :)

Mine were taller than me! They were sooooo prolific and flowery but did overwhelm the whole border. I liked them so much I'd like to grow again and would love a pointer to a much smaller variety - as above, height 12 to 18 inches but I don't mind what colour.

I tried the dwarf (and picotee) last year but they grew and grew. Mine were in pots and split/snapped under their own weight (and with the wind not helping things).. I'd love a small one!

Don't think cosmos come in blue.. but I'm trying these Redirect Notice this year, never grown them before :)

I think you need to look for Cosmos bipinnatus........which is the dwarf variety of mixed colours.:coffee::snork:

I also love Cosmos for a bright showy display ,and usually grow dwarf Sonata mixed ,however they are supposed to be 18" and turned out to be four foot last year.......good job they were at the back of the border.
I am trying Mr Fothergills Cosmos Brightness mixed which are supposed to be 12" and should be an abundance of low growing colour.
Of course the success of most flowering plants is to constantly dead head.

Cosmos Brightness Mixed Seeds £2.19 From Mr Fothergills Seeds

I'll give the Mr Fothergill brightness one a go...here's hoping. I've just remembered i grew a yellow variety last year and put in tubs with French Marigolds - but they were very spindly, despite feeding/watering and didn't last very long at all.

I don't think any Cosmos is suitable for a normal container . They are a large spready plant , more suitable for flower beds.

Ah yes, I also tried those last year. They ended up about 4 feet tall. It must be something in my soil ..... ;)
