Listening to something fairly recent with a slight (ok - not so slight) 80's feel

Finally got round to watching it a couple of weeks ago mate, pretty good actually! :)

Yeah, TMC were great but I prefer the Cocteaus. Modern English weren't bad. 4AD still release some fantastic albums, I really like this one...

OK, cheating a bit now as this is a music doc that I recently re-watched, but some of the performers are amazing, especially El Cabrero at around 26:30, such a passionate chap...

As I'm working from home I can listen to opera. Stick it on my computer turn the volume down and then use the works laptop. Not as good a quality as the stereo, but.
So far listened to Carmen, Tosca, La Traviata, Barber of Seville and currently got Parsifal on You Tube.

Times like these I can loose myself from the health crisis for a short while by listening to my favourite piece of music, it has been played many, many times in our house lately.

This is for you @NigelJ. :) I thought about Pavarotti but changed my mind. I was reared with a mixture of music that is still with me now, opera being part of it. Mario Lanza was a favourite of my late mother's.

This lad does some great acoustic covers of one of my favourite rock bands, Incubus. I've seen them live 3 times and they're one of the best live acts I've ever seen. Reminded me of 3 other brilliant rock bands I've seen live...

Some of the most interesting lyrics ever written.
They just don’t write them like this anymore.................

Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you
Though I know that evening's empire has returned into sand
                      Vanished from my hand
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping
My weariness amazes me, I'm branded on my feet
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you
Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship
                      My senses have been stripped
My hands can't feel to grip
My toes too numb to step
Wait only for my boot heels to be wandering
I'm ready to go anywhere, I'm ready for to fade
                      Into my own parade
Cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you
Though you might hear laughing, spinning, swinging madly across the sun
                      It's not aimed at anyone
It's just escaping on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facing
And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme
                      To your tambourine in time
It's just a ragged clown behind
I wouldn't pay it any mind
                      It's just a shadow you're seeing that he's chasing
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me
In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you
And take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind
Down the foggy ruins of time
                      Far past the frozen leaves
                      The haunted frightened trees
                      Out to the windy beach
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky
                      With one hand waving free
                      Silhouetted by the sea
                      Circled by the circus sands
                      With all memory and fate
                      Driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow
Hey! Mr. Tambourine man, play a song for me

I have been taunted by a tune. Then browsing YouTube, I clicked on a video of jive dancing. Blow me down, the tune was played. It's a song by Demis Roussos. For ever and ever. I like the words, and for some reason they fit in with my mood at the time, as I am so often thinking of my late wife. I have bought the CD now. Also on You Tube I found that others had played this tune. Jon England piano redition really appeals to me. Trouble is, I can't find a CD by him. Strange though how a thought can become so much more.
