I'd forgotten all about Solomon Burke until he was on the box a few minutes ago. I'm not a huge fan of soul music but this man was pure class..................

was down in Fredricksburg, Va last week with my friend seeing the sights, and went to Washington DC ect. Trying out some restaurants, ran across a wonderful surprise of a good blue grass band in a rustic restaurant, and the food was good, so were beer choices.

Was watching a bit of Glastonbury on the telly tonight, and Suede were on. Reminded me of a rather wonderful version of 'Trash' as performed by Brett Anderson (singer/composer). I was never that much into 'Brit Pop', but in retrospect there were some good acts. Try this ....

Some more of my links between songs :heehee:

Well, I suppose @wiseowl might listen to this if I go back to the sixties. :)

It's from the 1960 musical 'Bye Bye Birdie' and is called 'A lot Of Livin' To Do'

The musical was inspired by all the publicity when Elvis Presley was 'called up' in 1957.
The main character was supposed to be called Conway Twitty until they found out that someone was already singing under that name :hate-shocked: (How could two different people think up a name like that?) so they called him Conrad Birdie :heehee:

Elvis had a hit with a song called 'Got A Lot Of Livin' To Do' in 1957 in his film 'Loving You'

Conway Twitty held the record for the most No 1's until 2006 (he died in 1999) and had 51 No 1's

He wrote this song in 1957 and it got to No 1 in 1958. Most people think, when they hear it, that it is Elvis singing it.
Elvis never recorded the song but used to sing it in his Las Vegas shows.

Just for @Jenny namaste :) A tune I'd completely forgotten about until I recently bought the album (A Question Of Balance) for a fiver in a charity shop.

I bet they were brilliant Apple Blossom. :) I didn't really have time for many concerts when I was younger, to busy rearing kids and since then I've lived here on the island which is quite restricting.

I went to the Netherlands to see my daughter at the weekend and we all ended up in the local bar. For some bizarre reason I was put in charge of the massive digital music collection and the more eighties I put on the more I was encouraged to put even more on. Apparently I was offered a job for life at around 3.30am but I'm boogered if I can remember that!

                      Cue the "dad dancing"................

Not eighties but I even found this in the archives..................
