I started buying Every Brothers records, as a teenager in the late fifties. Even now I've several of theirs in one of my vinyl jukeboxes.
A lot of their hits were written by the husband and wife team. Felice and Boudleaux Bryant.
Or "F & B Bryant" as it says on the records, which was all the information we had at the time.

There's was a fairytale love story if ever there was one.

In 1945, Bryant met Matilda Genevieve Scaduto (whom he called Felice) when he performed at a hotel in her hometown of Milwaukee Wisconsin. She was born in the city in 1925 to an ethnic Italian family, and had written lyrics set to traditional Italian tunes. During World War II, she sang and directed shows at the local USO.

Bryant and Scaduto eloped two days after meeting Boudleaux's song "All I Have to Do Is Dream" is "autobiographical" for Felice. She was working as an elevator operator at the Sherwood Hotel when she saw Bryant. She has said that she "recognized" him immediately; she had seen his face in a dream when she was eight years old, and had "looked for him forever." She was 19 when they met.

The Everlys ran into problems when they left Acuff-Rose and signed with Warner Brothers.

Not only would Wesley Rose not let them record any more F & B Bryant songs, who were contracted to him, they couldn't for the same legal reasons record any of their own material either. But it didn't hold them back, they had more hits recording songs by other people.

This is my favourite of theirs. I recorded this on my old leccy piano, nearly six years ago.

Here's my version I recorded around the same time, of a Carole King song they recorded in 1962. it got to No. 6 both here and in the USA. (theirs not mine!)

I recorded a BBC documntary on the Everly Brothers, some years ago.
Felice Bryant wwa interviewd in it, but died some year later. The BBC made a follow up after Phil died.
