Drilling into a brick wall

    Yes, but it has to be worth spending the money on the initial outlay for an SDS. If you aren't likely to use it enough to justify the initial cost, it's pointless. Always a balance :smile:

      Thanks for all the replies, the job has now been done. We ended up screwing a piece of wood to the wall and screwing the vine eyes into that, as the vine eyes seemed to need 10mm rawl plugs and I wasn't sure that I wanted holes that size drilling in my wall!

        Just might be able to borrow or hire one, but agree not worth buying one for one job.

        It's also what else you can do that you perhaps may just make do with. We put together a couple of raised beds with larger timber than we perhaps would have used or would have used brackets for, whereas the SDS put in coach bolts all sides in minutes. Granted they can be expensive, but you can often get some good offers and borrowing one is a great idea. Now who last had ours....!
