    I was cooking tea so i asked darran if he would take me some decent pics of mine now its flowering,im not very good with my new Nikon D90 yet ..here goes, i glance out the back door and he is on a ladder:heehee:..not seen his pics yet:)

      Joolz - that's superb. E. pininana has to be one of the most spectacular plants ever (when in flower - rubbish otherwise :snork:).

          I can't remember Joolz - a reasonable while. But even as the flowers fade the spike remains for some time longer, whilst millions of seeds are produced.

                I will sure be putting a lot in seed swap Mowgley and if anyone wants any let me know :blue thumb: x
                I got some russicum seeds from the swap and theyve germinated, when i prick them out should i pot on a few to a pot or just 1 seedling???
                Im wondering if its 1 flower spike per seedling??

                @JWK @Kristen @Lolimac I'm am lead to believe the echiums I gave you at shineys are not in fact echium pininana they I think they are echium vulgare 'vipers bugloss'
                Looks like they label the packet wrong :doh:

                  I thought that [it was wrongly ID'd] when I got it home, the leaves didn't look right, and it shouldn't be flowering "immediately after sowing", but I completely forgot to mention it. Then it opened nice blue flowers and I planted it in my Blue Border (might grow more next year - especially as I now know what it actually is!!) ... and I still forgot to mention it!! Senile old git that I am ...

                        Advice needed please...its seems my echium is tilting and uprooting :sad: ive propped a fork against the stem in hope that will help with supporting it until it sets seed :dunno:
                        Is it a goner? or would staking help? thanks x

                        Its not good I'm afraid. Once they move, and their roots break, they tend to wilt and go downhill from there :(

                        Prop & Strap it up is all you can do ... water the roots too perhaps, to try to counteract their impaired state
