    Morning all.

Wonder if I could have some advice. I have a flower bed which will soon be gravel. I'm trying to make a contemporary style flower bed. That's low maintenance.

My plan is to cut a slit in my weed membrane and plant a couple small green shrubs etc. I was thinking the box sempervirens, maybe every couple feet and maybe some form of yucca. I'm just wondering if there are any other green spiky palm style plants I could use that are low maintenance and will not grow big! The flower bed is small so can't have anything bigger than 30cm box sphere in theory. Maybe one slightly larger palm style in a bigger area around the corner.

Are these ideas low maintenance that aren't going to overgrow quickly... I will be keeping the box trim!

    Thanks

Yucca fillamentosa or Y. flaccida could fit the bill, there are variegated versions which are more interesting when not on flower and tend to be smaller.
Or maybe some grasses, not something I grow myself but worth looking into.

      Thanks Pete.

I'll look into that info. I'm a bit new and didn't really want to a pick a plant that needs a lot of work/maintenance! Think I'll go chat to some experts at the garden centre!

Also like agave but I think I'm picking plants that aren't the simple plant and leave I'm After!

      You could also try Cordylines.

Thanks Anthony. It's only a small gravel flowerbed so having a quick look these get rather large, but that's the exact look I'm going for!
