Hello I was wondering if someone could advice why one of shrub plants is full of flies, some of the flies seem to have green on there backs some are just big black flies and there’s some wasps as well we can’t see any thing under the bush we just don’t know why there are some many flies is there something I could spray them with as I don’t really want to remove the plant as it’s been there along time
    Thank you

My guess would be aphids or scale insect, they both secrete a sticky substance that other isects feed on, usually its ants, but wasps do do the same.
Have a close look at the leaves /stems, and see if they are sticky.

Sorry to be a pest myself but would it be possible to take a pic of the flies on the shrub and are they doing any damage to your shrub? If we can see what they are then i think there will be people better to advise you than me.

@Madgeanne Spray with peppermint oil diluted in tepid water and spray it all over for now. Wasps and flies do not like peppermint.!!
I have a clump of Rosebay Willowherb in a corner and that attracts honeybees but also lots of wasps and flies.. no idea why..
