Hi I've just recently decided to start a fresh with my gardens I dug it all up leveled it flat and layed seeds dwn.now i thought i got the majority of the weeds up so i thought now the seeds have come up brilliantly proper vibrant green...now some of these weeds have decided to pop up right in the centre and som around the edges..question is this is there a way to kill the little pains with out damage to the fresh grass or do I just dig them proper an relay seed which I would rather not have to do any ideas??

Hi @Noob gardener Welcome tomGC, when I seeded an area I just got down and got the weeds out as soon as they appeared and just sprinkled seed on the disturbed soil each time and so on with each weed if you want a verdant green lawn.. Then as I was watering most evenings as it was so hot and dry, so I gave the grass a spray every evening..
Weeds will alway rear their little heads though as seeds are carried on the wind very often.. ;)

Welcome, as Marley described is the best way to deal with them. Don’t be tempted by the lawn weed killers as these are for established lawns only.

Keep watering the turf. We are set for some hot weather and with new turf it will take a while to find it’s feet so keep watering the turf as you are. If the turf dries it shrinks and you end up with a problem.

Yes, @Noob gardener I've had to water new turf every chance I got as it certainly is thirsty stuff. You'll be amazed at how much it drinks on hot summer days. I had to keep at it for a good three weeks.

              Welcome to the forum!
