      Hi Scotkat,
I have a Half Standard 'Checkerboard' a Standard 'Garden News' I did have a few more but they took up to much greenhouse space ,I also have a couple of Standard Variagated Geraniums which always look good..I will get some photos up if I get some spare time to take them.

      Hi Kath.
I will get some photos tomorrow.
If you want to try a Standard geranium I would get a few cuttings in now (they will root easy) mine are Caroline Schmidt, an old variagated variety, and a vigorous grower.Once rooted pot on and keep growing upright ,remove any side shoots and flower buds as it goes up.Cane them to keep straight ,and take out the tip once you have reached the hieght you want .Pot on as they grow so as not to give them a chance to slow growth down. You will then form a flowering head by allowing the sides shoots at the top of the plant to grow out ,pinch these out as you would any geranium and the head will thicken up , It is best to tie the sides shots in as they can become heavy and snap off .

        Jack,
Make sure you get all the roots out. I dug one out two years ago and couldn't get some of the roots out, I've still got new shoots coming up. I'm now at war with glyphosate! :(

Thankyou Dave so same as growing a standard fuchsia .

But not like having to look for a 3 leaves on a fuchsia.

I shall look at my geraniums and have a good .

Look forward to seeing your photos.
Caroline Schmidt is a beautiful geranium Dave I dont have that .

Yes .Basically like a standard fuchsia . Again in theory you could grow any geranium as a standard but the vigourous ones get there quicker , and I think at least with a variegated one you have something to look at even without flowers ....But again you need to protect the stem from frost over winter ..

            Hi Scotkat.
Very interested in Fuchsia swop, i grow 300+ broken down to around 80 cultivars [to many to list here].
I'm an exhibitor and getting ready for the Scottish show season, Starts at the end of this month.
I normally have spare cuttings come spring and give them away to work mates and friends.
Hopefully this will start the ball rolling.
            Bob

Yes Bob come Spring next year would be interested .

I lost all my fuchsias last winter to the long cold winter so this is me starting once again.

I so hope what I have comes through the winter.

After last winter, I've made a list of what I think are fully hardy fuchsias, down to -15C, when planted in the garden.

            empress of prussia
            army nurse
            doctor foster
            genii
            son of thumb
            margaret brown
            mrs popple
            rose of castile improved

I may settle on those I have below, but am tempted to add
rose of castile improved and genii

            dollar princess
            brutus
            phyllis
            hawkshead
            mag. alba
            angel's teardrops
            shrimp cocktail
            riccartonii
