@shiney What is that lovely little bird? I love the yellow feather. So helpless and cute.. Lovely alstroemerias.. My yellow and pink ones are also hardy, but the flowers are on the small side, perhaps I have not fed them following Verdun's instructions. I hope my burgundy ones have not been killed by me. I kept planting them on the same spot and I haven't seen the burgundy for a year.. I have also managed to make the Mona Lisa disappear.. Then, I asked myself why I spent money on such a horrible flower!

Ikebana or flower arranging can be very striking and impressive. Do share Mrs Shiney's pride and joy with us please, @shiney

@Upsydaisy No, it's Mrs Shiney. :blue thumb:

She's the one that can pick up wild birds and speak to them :love30:

She has even picked up a wild swan.

These photos were taken at different times (last two are same time)

        I think it's a greenfinch.

Alstromeria, we just use horse manure dug into the bed and we put horse manure and ash into our compost heaps and rotovate it in instead of turning the heaps. Plants seem to like it.

Can I do the same? :love30::love30::love30: The tits flee when I am near.. I so wish to join the gang of bird whisperers!

I will get some more horse manure.. When I went to the site, I said to myself, Oh, this must be enough.. When I am home, I asked myself, Why didn't you take more?? It's always like this.

Cute little birds.. Respect and homage to Mrs Shiney on top of her flower arrangement skills.. @shiney :love30::wow:

@Verdun I'm still in awe of your lovely garden snaps... So beautiful and perfect. And you shape your plants so beautifully. It's only when I went into the garage that I realised I had one bag of mulch left.

How useless and disorganised I have been. Was thrilled to see a bag of Miracle Gro compost reduced to £1...

              I must try harder, @Verdun.

IMG_1316.JPG This alstromeria has been flowering for couple of weeks....150 cm or so tall. It will get no supplementary feeding during the summer.....thick mulch and fish blood and bone in autumn/early spring is enough. Too much feeding will produce foliage at the expense of flowers I think :)

The following pics are not very good in quality, but I have been thrilled by this £1 Paul Scarlett. I wonder if there are two. The branches have climbed 8 feet into the air and is floribunda (is that the right word?)

It's been there 2 years only. The bay has suffered a bit.
