Sadly the current Beechgrove series ended last Sunday. I'm in Northern Ireland and only discovered this gem on BBC Scotland earlier this year. It was an even better show than the brilliant Gardeners world IMHO. Are there any other gardening shows worth watching?

Good call Nikolaos! Geoff was my favourite gardeners world presenter. I learnt so much from him!

I tend to avoid gardening programs as such. Yes I have Monty's DVD of the 80 days tour. As I am also interested in natural history, I prefer seeing great gardens. Today I watched the DVD. National Trust's finest gardens. Concluding. Presenter Tom Petherick said thank you to all involved, and that he had learned so much. I so often feel the same at such times. Visiting/seeing such gardens provides one with so much more than basic gardening.

IMHO I think gardening is so close to the story of life. I've often heard other Dr's. & Profs say. I never knew that. You will never know it all, regarding gardening.

Geoff was the best! I watched his Gardener’s World programmes going back to the 70s. His enthusiasm was infectious. Remember all his various organic trials and his enthusiasm for coir? He was way ahead of his time in wanting a replacement for peat. He understood how important peat habitat is and how destructive large scale extraction is. I was upset when he died and really missed him, lost interest in GW after that for many years. It didn’t stop me from gardening though but it’s only in the past two or three years that I’ve started watching GW again; I like Monty too.

@Redwing I feel a bit sad that Geoff died many years before I developed any interest in horticulture. Want to watch "A Man And His Garden" too, but never seem to find the time lately. The complete 5 part series seems to be available on YouTube...

Forgot to mention Christine Walkden, she was featured on a great series (available on DVD) and presented another. I imagine the latter will be repeated at some point.

BBC One - Glorious Gardens from Above - Glorious Gardens from Above

Well, my brain is firing now and I've remembered a few more noteworthy ones!

Not gardening, but this one is absolutely brilliant!

                https://www.amazon.co.uk/Private-Li...fix=the+private+life+of+plants,aps,162&sr=8-1

Thoroughly enjoyed this one because it combined two of my passions, horticulture and history!

This is another I remember being very interesting, a year in the life of Bodnant Garden, unfortunately not available on DVD, AFAIK. Hopefully it'll be repeated at some point.

And for all other country and nature related topics to lead us into the gardeners we have all grown up to be ..... ‘HOW’ can we forget the great Jack Howarth!

Jack Howarth was a really knowledgeable countryman on a children’s programme in the 1960s/70s called How.
He instilled a love of the countryside and nature to many kids around that era .... whoops that has given away my age lol!

I genuinely spent about 10 minutes trying to work out how a Coro actor had such a big impact in terms of getting people into Nature. :noidea::dunno::heehee::roflol:
