As I've said previously, trench and saw. It's hard work but it's the only reliable/non mechanical way to remove bamboo

      All that French!

Puts me in mind to suggest to you, à propos of nothing (what’s in a name?) that perhaps you should read “Il y a encore des noisetiers”.

Have you thought of using the old fashioned way of removing tree stumps and, presumably, bamboo stumps? When we first moved in here 50 years ago we needed to thin out a lot of trees and couldn't afford to employ people to remove the stumps.

Potassium Nitrate was the way to go. Drill holes, pour in the KNO3, add water, leave to be absorbed and then light blue touch paper and retreat.

The saw is a good idea and I have used it extensively but have now hit a patch where a trench exposes electrics and plumbing; I am not sure exactly what the plumbing is but I am worried that what you see below might happen (I don't mind the oil so much [in view of the current situation] but I am worried about what it would do to my lawn)(that's my wife on the left):

Ah, Hazel … that leads to my all-time-favourite cake: Hazelnut Meringue Cake; attached is the recipe: SCAN FROM CORDON BLEU BOOK … and here is the result, especially for you, avec neuf noisettes dessus (can Aquitaine cope with nine Noisettes?):

None of these are a good mix but I know I'd avoid using the saw for the time being.

Well, it’s progressing. Before I started, I said to my wife This is going to be tough and she said Yes, but it’s going to be a joint effort ...
                    upload_2022-6-16_0-3-34.png

Then, she added: When the going gets tough, the tough get going! And she got ensconced in her book; there’s not been a peep since.
To think she can sleep with all that banging. At least, the one on the right is showing an interest.

There is a French proverb: “Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid” …Here, it’s more a case of: “Petit à petit, Goliath est détruit!”
