I was impressed with the different atmosphere to the show on Friday night. Toby Buckland has at last dropped his childrens presenter manner, Joe Swift is a funny guy, Carol Klein was, in my opinion, her usual fabulous self and Alys Fowler (duck the blow from Roders lol) hasn't got a humourous bone in her body, which should make any of the slots she does with Joe Swift quite amusing.

They showed Toby and Alys constructing a compost bin, Alys claiming she was a "great composter", which I don't doubt, but she certainly hasn't made one before judging by the kakhanded manner she had with a hammer and nail-blaming it one the nail? Toby then whacked 6/7 in without so much as a grimace. I quite liked this slot.

However, it failed in one of its briefs-being frugal with a bespoke cedar greenhouse, brand new shed with reclaimed (and extortionately priced) windows and door. And those two magnolias-if they were less than £100 each I'd be surprised. But then, thank the maker, there wasn't a hint of peacock blue anywhere.

Tobys nod to Geoff Hamilton pretty much sold me straight off.

    I enjoyed it.
