    Hey guy's,

I'mvery new to gardening and this year decided to do some companion planting.

I have Nasturtium's with my Courgettes, Pot Marigolds with my Toms and Petunia's with my beans but they seems to be covered with pests and i mean covered. i thought they were supposed to repelle these little beasties?

any advice would be greatly received :o

I can't comment on the companion planting as I've never tried it. All I do is regularly spray with pure soap in a weak dilution. I use Stergene (from Asda) - mix up 1 teaspoonful of Stergene in 1 pint of water, volumes are not critical. Then spray twice a week to keep the bugs at bay - it also smells nice :thumb: My bottle of Stergene has lasted years.

Now that you have such a bad infestation you should rub off the blackfly by hand before spraying, give them a good blast and it will knock off the remainder. Greenfly are a bit tougher and you might need to use a pesticide, there are some organic ones which will do the job. Once you clear the bad infestation use the soap spray to ensure they don't come back.
