Honeysuckle

    Can we have a definitive answer then?

    I've planted it in dappled shade, in front of a "hedge" of leylandii (not more than 6 foot high). It will get sun in the summer from midday onwards, but I don't want all the blooms heading through the trees and giving neighbour their benefit.

    Hi Aaron, my HS is planted behind my Greenhouse and grows along the fence at the side, I dont water or Prune because i can,t reach it in the overgrown area its planted in and it looks and smells Fab :) I have a pic somewhere and will post it up...

    Lonicera should be grown in partial shade although will tolerate full sun it's just that they are far less prone to aphid attack in partial shade

    also about the mildew:
    Also a quick Google search reveals that allot of people believe that dry roots cause mildew although only with powdery type mildews and again 2nd line down under "Prevention" on this RHS site
    Hope that clears a few things up:skp:

    Looks like its roots are in shade then, behind your greenhouse. Lovely :)

    Yeah, Just stick in and dont worry, miine has been really neglected, there's Ivy growing with it and god knows what else, and it flowers every year...

    Agreed! I've always found that honeysuckles are one of those plants that you can put in the ground and forget about:gnthb:
