I'd love to plant into the ground the problem is I live in a flat with a large roof terrace, this year I have successfully grown potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, strawberry, runners, chillies, herbs, sunflower, spring onions. This is the only plant to fail which is very annoying. Would the hop plant encounter the same problem next year or would the winter kill off whatever the problem is?

Morning @Dean Boland never grown an Hop plant sorry but well done with your others to say your in a flat...but roof terraces come in handy ...I hope this info and link helps until someone with further knowledge can help :)

      • Step 1 Familiarize yourself with different hop plants. Each variety of hop plant has characteristics that are unique to the plant.
      • Step 2 Examine the plant itself. Hops are vines that grow from 15 to 25 feet long.
      • Step 3 Examine the characteristics of the female flower cones. ...
      • Step 4 Rub the flower cones between your hands to release the aroma of the hops and smell them.
