Maybe the builders of stonehenge could help.
Surprised @shiney doesn't remember how they did it.

If you are concerned about damaging your back ( and that is certainly worth considering ) and you have 3 plants to move, your only real solution will be to get someone to help you. If you don't want to ask your friend perhaps you or a neighbour know of a local "handyman" who would be amenable to helping for a reasonable charge ?

To be honest, if I was in your situation I would definitely ask for help. It's not worth the risk of injuring your back by trying to do it yourself .

I'd rather "be a nuisance", but ease the blow by offering wine, beer, chocolates and/or cake as a thank you, together with as many mugs of tea or coffee and biscuits as necessary while the work is carried out .

I'm one of the less likely to ask for help, especially in the garden or when doing DIY jobs, but as I've got older I tend to realise I'm not indestructible any more.

Depressing isn't it @pete ? However, I find there's usually someone happy to help, especially if there is bribery involved (in the form of biscuits etc. My Lady Chatterley days are long gone *).

*Not that I was that kind of woman .

Oh, I do remember that quite clearly. We got the slaves to do it. They cut down all the trees (that's why there aren't any around Stonehenge) and rolled the stones on them.

I always manage to find neighbours willing to help with the heavy stuff and we don't have many neighbours. We usually give them plants in exchange for their help, either from some we have grown in pots or if they like some plants in the garden we propagate them for them.
