    Our neighbours opposite have one and its an awful thing, always looks tatty and doesn't compete very well with nettles and hedge bindweed, so there are several brown bits and dead areas especially low down. Plus it seems to take them several days work to do their annual trim with tall step-ladders.

    Everyone else has nice beech hedges around us - a much better choice.

    "No idea of cost"

    Cost us nearly £1,000 to have ours felled where we couldn't safely do it ourselves, and half-felled where we could then get the rest out :(

    I have replaced my front Leylandii with Beech, so you will no doubt be proud of me etc. etc. etc. blah! blah! blah! :D

    That in itself should be a warning to wannabe leylandii growers.
