How stupid am I?

My mate and I once replaced all the brakes on my car. I then took the family out in it. I'd just got onto the dual carriageway when the car started making an awful noise and handling very badly. Having replaced the brakes I assumed we'd got something wrong and the brakes were possibly flapping about. As it was by now getting late in the day and I didn't want to take it all to bits again, I limped it to kwik fit and asked them to check my work on the brakes.

After a few minutes, car up on the lift, I heard the fitter expressing great shock repeatedly. After a few shocking expletives, and shouted me over. It went something like this 'it's not your brakes mate, you haven't flippin bolted your wheels back on', and at this point he theatrically jiggled one of the wheels.

I said my mate and I had done the brakes. Well after loosely, finger tight screwing in the wheel studs afterwards, he'd apparently said for me to go round and tighten them all fully. I hadn't heard him and had assumed he'd done it, he'd took it for granted that I'd know to do that, which I did know, and would have done, if I'd realised he hadn't.

 

That's interesting! I've never come across it as an option over here.......

 

This evening my wife and I went to the theatre. We were a week late as it turned out. How stupid do I feel. I booked and paid for it months ago.

Awww, were you able to see something else instead ?

 

Hi @luciusmaximus we ended going to the cinema instead and saw a really nice film. The evening wasn't a total loss. I think in future I will have all tickets posted out.

Attention girls !!!!! Do you notice it is almost all the fellas who do daft things? I find it quite amazing that some of them actually own up to it .....who was it that mentioned blondes ?

 

Oh that's such a shame.. glad you went elsewhere though. Once I took my daughter to go see the lion king on stage, again booked months in advance, luckily we turned up a week early! We went to a "winter wonderland" instead that night and got to see the show the following week

 

Today I bought myself some plants. When I got home I discovered I had run out of compost. Doh. Luckily for me I got called out again. That gave me a chance to pick some up.
