This is my iris. It wasn't the colour I was expecting, but, I love it all the same - the flowers look almost black.

Be aware of how quickly they can grow @silu and the space they require.

I planted it in a new border which was created in March 2016, it is in the foreground in the right hand corner of the bed/photograph

One year on and this is the size of the clump (photo taken in May 2017 )

One of the plants I quite liked planted with it (except, like a true numpty turnip, I'd planted it *behind* the iris: amateur mistake  :heehee: ) was "London Pride" - it's a variegated one and I thought the two looked ok together

I moved the L.P. to a pot last Autumn so they are no longer sharing the same bed. But, if I were to do it again, I would simply plant it in front of the iris next time :heehee:

Yes @"M" I have about 30 to 40 different varieties and have grown flag iris for about 30 years. Up here in Scotland that's where my Igloo is @Tetters they don't bulk up that quickly like yours do "M", the older rhizomes tend to rot off during the winter but:fingers crossed:I have never lost a variety except a couple of variegated leafed ones which thought living in Scotland was not on!

I wonder if little brollies would help to save them from rotting off :th scifD36:

You got it right first time, "M"! As KFF said above, Iris don't really like low-growing stuff shading their rhizomes and it increases the risk of them rotting in winter. So there's a clever girl!
