Gemini - no he's a Schnauzer, and his name is Herr Oberleutnant Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel.

I suspect he is not a native breed.:snork:

Thanks all for the ingenious labelling ideas. I will certainly be putting them to good use - I think I'll call it the 'traffic light' labelling system! :ccheers:

If you collect some free (my favourite price) pot trays from Homebase (don't know about other places) and select the clear plastic ones they're ideal for writing details of the contents on using a permanent market, plus with clear pot trays you can spot slugs & snails lurking underneath but they degrade much quicker than black ones and only last one season.

For a minute, I thought that said, 'Bother electronic labeller'! The electronic bit alone was offputting enough for a technophobe like me without the addition of bother :runforhills:
I like the coloured labelling idea for pots and nursery type area. I tied bits of coloured wool around Dahlias one year to help as a reminder when lifting for winter storage. Left it a bit late though and ended up with a pile of mushy stems and bits of wool!

I was going down the colour coding route
Only with twelve different plants and no off spring decided just to label each one
4988 labels left Oh and twenty more slats :)

But seriously the colour coding is brilliant for someone who propagates loads

I planted some dry root perennials , marked each planting with a coloured label to identify the type. The family visited later that day with our youngest GK , Evie . The next time I looked at my planting , Fat Teddy was sat there with a fairy ring of coloured plant labels around him :snork:
